Tara McRae is a registered Social Worker (RSW) and psychotherapist at CMAP Health.  Tara holds a Masters Degree in Social Work, an undergraduate in psychology, and a minor in social work from the University of Ottawa, which she has used to support adults in various mental health settings over the last 10 years.  Tara offers psychotherapy services to adults experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, health anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, insomnia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, agoraphobia, ADHD and life stressors. It is important to Tara to ensure access to evidence-based therapeutic services to a wide range of populations including individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism, and intellectual disabilities.  When asked why Tara wanted to work with us at CMAP health and what her clients could expect from her, this was Tara’s response: “Life is a mixture of enormous beauty and tremendous hardship. I hope to help my clients be able to move through the difficult times while embracing the beauty around them. Primarily I work from a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) approach and provide clients with a safe space to discover their inner skills and strength. I want to help clients discover the ways in which they may be getting stuck and ultimately support them in reaching their wellness goals so they may live the life they want to lead.” I chose CMAP Health because of its ability to treat a variety of mental health concerns with evidence-based therapies. It is important to me to be a part of a community of like-minded individuals who support one another. CMAP Health is all about continuous learning which is of the utmost importance to me." If you would like to book an appointment with Tara reach out here Social workers in CMAP Health have intensive training in evidence-based psychological therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Through the psychotherapy process, Social Workers identify and define problem areas, and offer mental health treatment to support you/clients in reaching wellness. Social Workers are uniquely trained to consider connections between family, workplace, community, and the larger social context. In Ontario Registered, Social workers are one of the professions (along with psychologists, physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and psychotherapists) allowed to practice psychotherapy. Therefore, most major insurance providers cover psychotherapy provided by Registered Social Workers.
