Kirstine Postma is a UK trained Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of professional experience. She provides psychological assessment and interventions for a wide variety of difficulties, including post-traumatic stress, anxiety and mood disorders and certain personality disorders. She offers Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR, as well as several other evidence-based therapies. Kirstine achieved full registration as a Psychologist with the British Psychological Society in 2001 and with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology on her arrival there in 2011. She is currently registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO). Kirstine was an accredited CBT therapist with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapists from 2003 to 2014 and has been a certified CBT therapist with the Canadian Association of CBT since 2012. She is a certified EMDR therapist with EMDRIA (EMDR International Association). Kirstine has several years’ experience teaching and training clinicians of various backgrounds in CBT when employed in a leading role of Consultant Psychologist in the UK National Health Service. She supervised in the postgraduate CBT course of Durham University, UK. She is available to offer training and supervision. Kirstine’s priority in helping the client is to ensure that she knows the best evidence for what will likely benefit the person. If she cannot offer the best evidence treatment, she will do her best to find clients another provider. Secondly, in therapy Kirstine focuses on teaching her clients skills of living, as appropriate to their circumstances and presenting difficulties. This is always a collaborative process, in which she and the person plan and develop therapy as partners. Thirdly, as part of optimising her skills as a therapist, Kirstine maintains close relationships with colleagues in the field, seeking and providing consultation and further training.
