Danielle Illman, RP(Q)Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Navigating through life can present many challenges physically, emotionally, and psychologically. I can understand the desire to regain a sense of empowerment, hope and control back into your life. It is my goal to provide you the compassion, support, empathy, and skills you need to strengthen and empower you to reach this potential! I strive to provide a safe, nurturing, non-judgemental, and collaborative environment where you can share honestly and freely. I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Q) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I have a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and have a background counselling members of military families, and individuals struggling with addiction and substance abuse. I primarily operate from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach while integrating a trauma-informed perspective into treatment. Through employment and educational experience, I have had training in CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. I have experience conducting both individual and group therapy for adolescents, adults, and families. My work with military families provided me the opportunity to work with adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, social anxiety, ADHD, trauma, life transitions, and relational struggles. While working at a rehabilitation center, I have counseled individuals with addiction related issues and co-occurring mental health diagnoses including Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, and PTSD. My long-term goals are to provide evidence-based therapy to individuals dealing with anxiety, mood disorders and life transitions. My hope is that together we will foster your resilience to manage life stressors, anxiety, depression, relational difficulties and trauma!
