Breanne Lyng is one of our Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying) at CMAP Health. Breanne is passionate about child development and child psychology with an avid interest in the Nature vs Nurture theory. She also specialises in grief and terminal illnesses for both individuals and families. She is a volunteer at the Ontario Caregivers Organization acting as a peer mentor to those who are in the role of caregiving. She has a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. When asked why she wanted to work with us at CMAP health and what her patients could expect from her, this was Breanne’s response: "I am driven by my curiosity in the brain. I want to know everything about how it functions; what makes people act and react to different situations. Evidence-based methods of CBT help me answer these curiosities in a safe, non-judgmental, and goal-oriented collaborative approach. Tailoring each intervention to suit my patient's needs. Before coming to CMAP Health I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Ottawa, so I understand the importance of how change occurs from within and appreciate how challenging it can be at times. I applaud patients for the bravery they demonstrate by deciding to take that first step towards change. I am ready when they are.” Breanne is currently gaining skills and knowledge to become Level 2 certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); a therapy that is evidenced-based in offering success with a range of anxiety and depressive disorders. She is registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), the Canadian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CACBT), and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
