Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, known commonly as ADHD, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects an estimated 1.1 million Canadians and four per cent of the world population. Both men and women, adults and children can be affected by ADHD, however diagnosis is more common in childhood. Common signs and symptoms of ADHD include:

  • Trouble focusing on tasks
  • Being forgetful
  • Fidgeting or finding it difficult to sit still
  • Difficulty waiting or exercising patience
  • Easily distracted by surroundings
  • Losing or misplacing items frequently
  • Impulsiveness or acting without consideration for consequences

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) has been proven effective in helping individuals with ADHD manage their behaviour and change negative patterns of thinking. CBT provides individuals with goals and strategies to help accept and improve life with this condition. Book an appointment with a member of our team today if you are experiencing symptoms of ADHD.
